Providing a Variety of Movement Experiences

We are all different and we all have different needs. The membership offers a variety of levels and class durations as well as class types and if you are in the mood to try something different, we have a growing library of other movement classes too, like yoga, dance and more.

Teaching Body Awareness

Why is this a good thing? Awareness of our body and how it feels and works helps us identify our strength and weakness. It also allows us to notice stress and tension and sometimes anxiety. The body will carry stress before the mind will acknowledge it. 

My Education


My study of health, wellness and movement began in 1999 with my undergrad in Physical Education and Health followed by a Masters in Exercise Physiology at U of Toronto.

I went on to train in contemporary Pilates with Body Harmonics and received a full classical Pilates certification with Dianne Miller at what is now called the Vancouver Pilates Center in 2010. 

I have since become trained in Franklin Method® (Level 1, 2015) the Oov® (Level 1, 2019) and Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise (2021).


The Movement Philosophies at Matters of Movement


The foundation of the work we teach is Pilates, which consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Pilates is named after Joseph Pilates.

Christina has been trained in both Contemporary and Classical Pilates and ultimately uses what is best for her clients.


Uses Dynamic Neuro-cognitive Imagery, anatomical embodiment and educational skills to create lasting positive change in your body and mind.

Christina weaves in many of the concepts of the method throughout the classes like when talking about bone rhythms and will often incorporate Franklin Method® balls and band in class. 


Functional movement is a balance between strength and control and training motor control has been shown to reduce injury, pain, and improve performance. The Oov® creates a 3D environment, allowing the body to move in 3 Planes, facilitating motor learning.

Although, we can't always use the Oov® in online classes. Christina incorporates the concepts of the Oov® into class and can improvise using rolled-up mats and more. 


Women who are pregnant and/or postpartum require a special protocol to help them regain core control and to work to support them through pregnancy and/or help them recover. The philosophy we take is that once postpartum, always postpartum. 

Women often do not get the care they need in the aftermath of birth, which is why Christina chose to specialize in this area.
